Bioart program for the rescue and preservation of public spaces of the Itinerant LGBTTTIQ+ community

Hello, my name is V and I work with Gay Turtle Circus, a community circus founded by queer residents of Oaxaca of indigenous origin who have built a community circus to entertain the public and teach local youth how to maintain and preserve our spaces and beaches. , together with the learning of circus art intertwined with messages and concerns of identity, community and strengthening of the connection with the land and the land through kinship.

For a long time, the spaces that the itinerant LGBTTTIQ+ community inhabit have been crossed by historical and social processes, what were previously private spaces where we were socially allowed to be as a minority group, gained strength and evolved,

and now they are public spaces (such as Zipolite, Oaxaca, Zona Rosa CDMX, Playa de Muertos Puerto Vallarta) and many of them show environmental deterioration.

This $5,000 goal is to help crew members living in Mexico City travel between Zipolite and the city to bring cleaning supplies, hygiene items, and food resources to locals living along the beach, and establish a regular cleaning team to preserve the beach that is Pollution is beginning to be seen in the consumption habits of tourists traveling on vacation from richer countries, especially cigarettes and condoms.

It will also help to continue financing resources and labor salaries for the circus artists who use their trade to tell the story of Zipolite to travelers, using comedy and satire as a way to create a dialogue around consumption habits, consumerism, colonialism and the clash of class structures. as the commercialization around Zipolite begins to grow.

Zipolite has a long history of being a beach location FOR OUR COMMUNITY, which is a safe space for trans and queer identities to relax and enjoy themselves in a state of Oaxaca known for revering and honoring its long history of co-existence with gender identities. expansive mountains known as Muxes. .

As commercialization grows with wealthy foreigners setting up hotel businesses, food and beverage businesses without consultation or intent to integrate with the indigenous and queer community that has long inhabited and preserved this natural wonder of Mexico, there will be no clean beaches or reverence for caregivers. . without the necessary intervention at this time.

Gay Turtle Circus seeks this funding to begin actualizing an integration of land preservation into daily life to reclaim social and political power to make decisions and be considered in conversations about the rapidly changing landscape in response to public pull by this sacred land.

With your help we will achieve:

*We will buy materials for bimonthly tequios

 (April, June, August, October, December)

*A mural with recycled materials and will be placed on the cobblestone of Zipolite

*Recycled fashion show in Zipolite

*The Zipolite Gay Tortugles Circus show in December at Delfina Beach Club completely free with your contribution to the project.

Help me help my colleagues, brothers and future generations to preserve this beach with a donation and share!

Together as a community let’s show the world our strength and our unity!

 (abril, junio, agosto, octubre, diciembre)
